Family and schools in Redmond

Redmond skews young for Central Oregon: the median age is 36.2 in the 2020-2024 American Community Survey, and 64.6 percent of households are families. These are the public bodies that serve them.

Redmond School District

The district's site lists 15 schools: two high schools (Redmond High School and Ridgeview High School), two middle schools (Elton Gregory and Obsidian), eight elementary schools (Hugh Hartman, John Tuck, M.A. Lynch, Sage, Terrebonne Community School, Tom McCall, Tumalo Community School and Vern Patrick) and three specialty programs. Its mission is "a supportive, inclusive, empowering, and academically rich learning environment where every student can succeed." Families enroll online through the ParentVUE portal, and the board-approved calendar is on the district site.

Redmond Area Park and Recreation District

The district's site lists the Cascade Swim Center, an indoor 25-meter pool, along with the Borden Beck Wildlife Preserve, the High Desert Sports Complex, Pleasant Ridge Community Hall and Tetherow Crossing. Programs include swim lessons, a youth swim team, fitness classes, sports leagues, art classes and summer camps. The Hub Aquatic and Recreation Center is shown as opening soon.

Deschutes Public Library

The county library system lists a Redmond branch and a Sisters branch among its locations. Its site carries the schedule of story times and programs.
